Join us for a half day of helicopter skiing and riding in the majestic Idaho backcountry. This is a great adventure for a first time heli-skier or rider who wants to gain the backcountry experience without the pressure of a full day in the backcountry. For beginner groups we have intermediate terrain which typically makes it easy for the first time heli skier and rider to enjoy the backcountry. It is also great for more experienced, but budget conscious skiers and riders. A half day of helicopter skiing and riding includes 3 runs per person. Each run typically ranges from approximately 1,000 to 3,000 vertical feet of legendary Idaho powder. We provide our guests with state of the art Mammut S avalanche transceivers and Mammut avalanche airbags. A daily safety briefing is provided to our guests to familiarize them with our helicopter, terrain, equipment and other protocols. Our terrain accommodates intermediate and advanced skiers and riders.
EXTRA RUNS ARE AVAILABLE FOR $150 PER PERSON PER RUN
*Non holiday season excludes Opening Day 2018 through January 5, 2020 and February 15 through February 23, 2020. Half day heli skiing is not available on a daily basis and is subject to availability.
HALF DAY HELI SKIING AND RIDING ITINERARY
YOUR HELI-SKIING AND RIDING DAY:
YOUR FIRST DAY OF HELI-SKI AND RIDING
Please be sure to give yourself plenty of time for stretching to ensure a great day of heli skiing and riding. Please make sure you have all the proper gear and equipment before leaving your accommodation. We strongly recommend that you speak with our staff about your equipment to be sure that you have the proper gear for backcountry skiing and riding no later than the day before your first heliski and riding day.
You will need to attend a safety briefing prior to flying with us. Attending this briefing is mandatory for all guests. Typically, this will occur at 5 pm on the day prior to your scheduled fly day. We will let you know the location of the briefing in advance. On some occasions, we will hold the briefing on the morning of the fly day. SVHS also requires that you sign a Release of Liability, Assumption of Risks and Agreement Not to Sue in the presence of a designated SVHS representative. We encourage you to read this important document prior to your briefing.

8:00 AM: Guest Arrival – Sun Valley Heli Headquarters- Sun Valley Gun Club
8:00 AM is our typical starting time, unless you are otherwise advised by the Status Line call. The Gun Club is located at the end of Trail Creek Road in Sun Valley. It is imperative that you arrive on time as late arrivals can delay the entire group of skiers and riders.
The first group of skiers and riders will depart from either the Gun Club or from the top of Baldy. The other groups will be taking our Heli Transport Vehicles or their personal vehicles to our various staging areas. Field based avalanche Transceiver Training will take place prior to the first flight at each staging area for each group. Following the training, the groups will depart for the field and a great day of skiing and riding.
1 to 3 PM:

ALL TIMES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON WEATHER AND OTHER LOGISTICAL MATTERS
Sun Valley Heli Ski strongly recommends that all guests carry Trip Cancellation Insurance, Trip Interruption Insurance, Medical Insurance, and Emergency Evacuation Insurance. These insurance types safeguard you against unforeseen mishaps that can occur before or during your heli vacation with us. OUR REFUND AND CANCELLATION POLICIES ARE ABSOLUTE. IF YOU INJURE YOURSELF BEFORE YOU COME OR HAVE CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH CAUSE YOU TO CANCEL YOUR TRIP, YOUR PACKAGE WILL NOT BE REFUNDED BEYOND THE TERMS OF THE ABOVE POLICIES. Depending on the carrier and the policy, such insurance is usually a small fraction of the overall package price and could reimburse you the entire cost of your trip in the event of your cancellation. SVHS recommends using Travel Guard insurance.
